OUR Credentials   Carolyn A. Goodall, President & FounderCarolyn Goodall brings superior leadership in health care experience to her role as a Founder of Astralis Consulting, Inc.

With more than 40 years of experience in home care leadership positions, Carolyn is a "legislative activist" who takes every opportunity to support the home care industry by reaching out to congressional representatives, supporting state associations, some of NAHC political initiatives and state regulation challenges.

Currently, Carolyn is a full time Executive at a major Midwest, hospital-based home health agency with office in both Indiana and Illinois, where she is the chief policy officer for operations, setting productivity standards and a regional physician communication improvement initiatives. Carolyn is "published"; she's received awards for the use of her advanced business and nursing experience to promote a shared vision for the impact of health care and the goal of transforming into high performing organizational cultures.

Past experiences include adjunct faculty in the Schools of Nursing for both Purdue University and Indiana University, where she taught the community health courses for more than 9 years. Often called upon to consult in a wide variety of projects including accreditation preparation,  business start-up and forms design, Carolyn has a strong community health background and has worked in various roles.

Carolyn serves on the board and as the next president of the state association. She is often called to give expert witness testimony in a court of law. She's an acknowledged leader in the field of home health care: As part of the Midwest region presentation team, Carolyn has delivered the CMS message through Health Care Excel and supports community involvement as the past president of a service organization whose purpose includes scholarship and facilitates financial assistance to many local not-for-profit organizations. Carolyn also serves as senior advisor to the current association leadership.

Carolyn received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Purdue University and her master’s degree from Indiana University/Purdue University in Indianapolis. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the honor society for nursing, Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the class of 1995 and a current member of National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

She is currently touring health care facilities and state associations with a new presentation of "SBAR". The "SBAR" (Situation-Background-Assessment-Recommendation) is the technique providing a framework for communication between members of the health care team about a patient's condition. "SBAR" is a focused way to set expectations for what will be communicated and how between members of the team, which is essential for developing teamwork and fostering a culture of patient safety.

Carolyn specializes in standards compliance and Outcome Based Quality Improvement (OBQI); a performance improvement system that uses OASIS-derived outcome reports to provide the foundation for quality improvement efforts. She says, " With future CMS reimbursements tied to outcomes" . . . "this could be very important to your financial health as well."

Carolyn says that she's a strong enthusiast in the value accreditation gives health care agencies and has thoroughly focused working with new start-ups, training new surveyors, and re-certifying established agencies. "I'm convinced that, although the process may be challenging, accreditation helps to mitigate business risks, supports a high level of professionalism and improves enterprise success."
